AuraWave is a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, or TENS, device designed to help consumers address issues of body pain, muscle aches, and other common maladies. According to product descriptions, AuraWave is recommended by chiropractors, and physical therapists for the purposes of pain management. TENS technology is not to be confused with Electrical Muscle Stimulation, or EMS, technology. Whereas TENS is devoted to pain management, EMS is typically harnessed for passive abdominal workouts and other forms of effort-free muscle development.
In the case of the AuraWave device, the purpose is decidedly not designed to accomplish abdominal workouts. Rather, the AuraWave device is supposed to intercept pain signals as they travel to the brain. This interception is said to minimize the experience of pain, though it does not actually eliminate the cause of the pain. In addition to this interruption of sensation, AuraWave is also said to stimulate the production and release of endorphins, which also contribute to a sense of well-being. And finally, the AuraWave device is said to stimulate muscle fibers, which stimulation is said to release toxins responsible for inflammation (a cause of various maladies). In this way, through the use of TENS technology, AuraWave is addressed to the daily sense of comfort and well being of the user.
